I almost forgot
In the daily chaos of completing my ever growing list of tasks i almost forgot about my blog site! Say it isn't so!
Despite every attempt to realize Stephen as my baby, he is growing so quickly, he is approaching one years old. He is walking, nearly running, talking back and showing great dislike of me washing dishes and/ or cooking whilst ignoring him (for the record I would love to play with him instead of washing dishes).
I heard a great radio broadcast on Moody today. A guest ( a very successful Mother) was sharing her growth experience with us, she described the similarities of Motherhood and Jesus' life on earth. She may have referenced the book of Mark Mark 4:38
Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
She parallelled this to a Mother who is trying to rejuvenate herself with a much needed and deserved nap, but here come her family members with a most urgent need, that only MOM can remedy.
She spoke about how rarely Jesus was alone, as the multitudes followed him as he preached and taught throughout the Land. His disciples were constantly asking him questions.
I agree and took heart to her study deciding personally to focus on how Jesus responds to situations of high stress and anxiety.
Luke 11 1One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
Jesus was imitated, just as our children imitate our actions (dont we wish they only picked up on the good ones?!) In this case Jesus turned and began to teach the Disciples prayer 'Our Father, Who art in Heaven...' He gave them this prayer so that they would understand, in stages, how they should address, revere and be in relationship with their heavenly Father. I noticed that Jesus did not respond with exasporation that upon completion of his prayer, his peace was broken by a disciple sitting (probably very near his face) wanting something; instead he responded with meekness and saw the time as an opportunity to instill an understanding into his disciple. How much more Christ-like could Stephen be if I take the time to show him how to accomplish tasks appropriately and how to respond peacefully. (How much more christ-like I can be, if I hear the Word, obey it and exude it in my actions of mothering?! )
